Story of The Bat

The birds challenged the four-footed animals to a great ball play. It was agreed that all creatures which had teeth should be on one side and all those which had feathers should go on the other side with the birds.

The day was fixed and all the arrangements were made; the ground was prepared, the poles erected, and the balls conjured by the medicine men.

When the animals came, all that had teeth went on one side and the birds on the other. At last, the Bat came. He went with the animals having teeth, but they said:

"No, you have wings, you must go with the birds."

He went to the birds and they said: "No, you have teeth, you must go with the animals." So they drove him away, saying "You are so little you could do no good."

He went to the animals and begged that they would permit him to play with them. They finally said, "You are too small to help us, but as you have teeth we will let you remain on our side."

The play began and it soon appeared that the birds were winning, as they could catch the ball in the air, where the four-footed animals could not reach it. The Crane was the best player. The animals were in despair, as none of them could fly. The little Bat now flew into the air and caught the ball as the Crane was flapping slowly along. Again and again, the Bat caught the ball, and he won the game for the four-footed animals.

They agreed that though he was so small he should always be classed with the animals having teeth.

Unforgettable Moment

7th Batch of President Junior High School Graduation

Now, i will tell you about one of my unforgettable moment. The first thing that comes to my mind when it is about unforgettable moment is when i graduated from junior high school. The graduation day was on 17th of June. The graduation in my Junior highschool is a very formal ceremony. We always practice for the graduation for about at least a month.

The practice was really tiring. We had to learn how to walk when coming in to the ceremonial court, how to sit formally, how to go to the front and accept the medallion, sing the indonesia national anthem, school mars and hymne, etc. We practice really hard because we want to present a great and memorable ceremony. And our teachers also said that this is our last ceremony on this school so please make it a memorable, not only for students and teachers but also the parents who come to the ceremony.

Not only for the ceremony, we also must to practice for what we want perform. The performance can be singing or play and we decided to sing. We must sing 2 songs, one is an ordinary song that the meaning can relate to graduation, and the second one is a song that we must made it ourselves, but we can use the melody from other songs.

After about a month of tiring practice, we are ready to do the graduation ceremony. The ceremony took place in university that is still in one foundation as my junior high school. We, the 9th graders use the blue uniform with blazer and beret. It is our pride uniform. After the ceremony and performances ended, we took formal photos together and then took a selfie with juniors and some alumnus. Then, we took the dinner because it was on fasting month an i went home. When i got home, i just noticed that maybe it was the last time i met my junior high school friends. But i do not hope so. I really hope that we can met again and still communicate even for next decades.

So, that was one of my unforgettable moment, what about you?

My Dream Place to Visit

In this chance, i want to tell you all about my dream place to visit. I have so many place that i want to visit, but what i wanted the most is to visit Japan.

I have so many place that i want to visit at Japan, such as Tokyo Tower, shrines, Animation Studio, Akihabara, Harajuku and many more. The reason i want to visit Japan is because i love its culture. Japanese has so many interesting culture that i want to learn. Such as ikebana or flower arranging, japanese tea ceremony, origami or as you know paper folding etc. I also love Japanese music and animation. I love japanese music because the beat is so catchy.

I also love Japanese animatin or mostly called as anime because of its amazing animation, illustration, voice acting, and special effect. I really want to work at Animation Studio later.

My favorite animation studio is Kyoto Animation. Just like its name, this studio is located at Kyoto. This animation studio is famous with its amazing animation and the animator is mostly woman. Kyoto Animation as also have its own drawing style, especially on the eyes.


I think the explanation is enough. I hope i can go there soon ^^

Megantara

Several days ago, at 10th of september our school held an annual festival called Megantara. Actually, the name of the festival changes each year. Last year it was Gamarvani. megantara is a culture festival, and we, the students of SMAN 3 Bandung organize it. Megantara is open for public.

Megantara is held to build awareness, not only for students but also all Indonesian, to conserve culture in Indonesia and introduce indonesian culture to people, especially in bandung. We deliver this message through interesting performances from many different culture in Indonesia. We also have some traditional food stands to get rid of your hunger.

On 10th September, megantara begins with the parade, the participants are kindergarten students and 1st grader of SMAN 3 Bandung. We gathered in Bali street at 7.30 am and started to walk around at 8 am. This parade purpose is to publish about Megantara to the people around. We finished around 9.30 am. After the parade ended, i went home with Fadhilah and Angie then took a lunch with my mom.

I went back to school at  15.30 after changed my clothes. The queue was so long. After about 20 minutes, i can went in to the Bali  Field. Honestly, i was quite late and missed some performances :(.

When i went to the stage, it was fashion show. The winner of the fashion show is announced by the Mayor of Bandung City, Ridwan Kamil. The winner wore a Papua costume.

After a break, it was T'ST turn to perform. They present a very great theater about culture. It was one of the best performance for me. Then, it was OSD from ITB on the stage. After that, it was their turn, The Changcuters to perform on Megantara stage. They performed about 10 song and it was sooo cool! The atmosphere they brought was so great i do not know how to express what i feel back then. I hope i can see their performance again :).

After The Changcuters performance ended, there was a traditional dance performance. It was also great. Then, it's the second guest star performance, RAN. Honestly, i prefer The Changcuters performance but RAN is also cool. I did not watch the RAN performance till the end because it was already too late. I was tired standing in front of stage for hours but it was a very unforgettable and great day for me.

“The Discovery of Deoxyribonucleic Acid”

Deoxyribonucleic Acid or mostly known as DNA is a bio molecule that stores and encode genetic instructions every organism and virus.  These genetic instructions play an important role on organism / virus growth, development and function. Generally, DNA is on the cell nucleus. Chemical structures that DNA contains is compatible to keep biologic information every living things. Most of DNA (more than 98% on human) is non cocde, which means this part cannot encode protein

DNA first discovered on 1868 by Friederich Miescher, a Switzerland scientist who did the research in Germany. Then, DNA research inside the cell continued on 20th century together with the discovery of Mendel’s genetic postulate. DNA and protein become two molecules that is most likely to bring genetic characteristic, based on Mendel’s theory. On 1953, James Watson and Francis Cick gave new definition  of DNA as polimer who has four alkali from nucleic acid.  

DNA frequently called as heredity molecule because of its responsibility as genetic inheritance agent. Such as skin colors on human, characters, even diseases. In daily lives, DNA can identify suspected culprit on crime case, gain information from accident victim, and any more. DNA can be tracked through blood, skin, hair, or saliva that are left in the scene. DNA also able to motivate scientists to develop computer technology that can support research and algorithm to search specific orders from nucleotides.

With all the facts above, we know that DNA takes important roles on our life. Without DNA discovery, we will not know the reason why we have different skin colors with the others, maybe we will assume that it was because the amount of sunlight we receive, even though it is not entirely wrong.

Will we know the cause of parents and their children characters similarity? Is it only because they are raised with exact same way or method? Is it because the same environtment? Because every family have a tradition to raise their children? Like i said before, those are not entirely wrong, but the most correct answer is because of DNA.

Why the disease always affects our family? The grandfather, the daughter, even the grandchild. Is this a curse? Now we know that this is not a curse, there are diseases who inheritable and the DNA is the one who carries it.

Imagine if there was a crime case in the place full of people, and there is a strand of hair that is suspected to be from the culprit. What thing we can do to find out who is the culprit? Must we match the found hair with all of the people there one by one, only with our bare eyes? And what if it is not a strand of hair but a drop of blood? What can we do?

The discovery of DNA also make us able learn about genetics. We can develop our technology on livestocks and crops so there will be more profit when harvest season comes. We can create new species of flower or other plants make it prettier.  And i hope we can prevent species extinction and we can make this world a better place in the future.

My name is Talitha Ratna Afiyah. You can call me Afi. I was born in Bandung, 14th of June 2001. This year, i am 15 years old. I do not have any brother nor sister. My hobbies are read, play rhythm games, sleep,dance and many more.




I am from President Junior High School. I have many best friends but most of it stay at Bekasi and some go to Jakarta and other cities, leaving me here at 3 senior high school with no friends from my junior high school. Even though, i have new friends at my new school, i will never forget my best friends and will always keep in contact with them.




I hope i will be a better person, have better grades, friends and everything at 3 senior highschool.
